Built in the first half of the 13th century, the former church of Santa Chiara is one of the oldest buildings on the island of Murano, Venice. After being an important cultural and religious centre until the beginning of the 20th century, the medieval church fell into disuse. In 2012 it was completely restored by the Belluardo family, who wanted to celebrate the art and tradition of Murano glassmaking by reopening it to the public as a gallery, hosting live glass blowing demonstrations, and an event space.
