In 1878 Baron Raimondo Franchetti bought the building, which was to remain property of the family until September 1922 when it was sold to Istituto Federale di Credito per il Risorgimento delle Venezie by the Baron's widow, Sarah Luisa de Rothschild. The period is associated with the name of architect Camillo Boito, who altered the building significantly, designing the monumental staircase.
Characterized by large 5-light mullioned window with interlacing arches and tracery, the palace has been one of the venues of the prestigious Istituto Veneto di Scienze, Lettere e Arti since 1999. |
